2013 Step Up, Speak Out, End Bullying PSA Showcase and Awards Event Winners

On April 27, 2013, the Fund for Civility, Respect and Understanding held its 2nd Annual “Step Up, Speak Out, End Bullying” PSA Showcase and Awards Event.  The 2013 theme was “BYSTANDER EMPOWERMENT” with the inspirational quote: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

Students from around the county submitted 30-second public service announcements focused on ending bullying in a positive, nonviolent manner. Contestants were asked to focus on encouraging bystanders to stand up to bullying behavior.  The contest was broken into age-based categories and winners were named at the elementary, middle and high school levels, along with one “Radio Ready” winner.

The Fund for Civility received over 70 submissions from 300 participants. The  awards event at the Loft Cinema, Tucson, AZ, was attend by nearly 300 students and their families.
