About Us
About the Fund for Civility, Respect and Understanding
The Fund for Civility was created in February 2011 by the family of Ron Barber as a way to help the Tucson, Arizona, community heal from the senseless shooting of Jan. 8, 2011, in which six people died and more than a dozen others were wounded.
Through funded projects, volunteer task force collaborations, sponsored films and discussions, and awareness-raising concert events, the Fund seeks to increase civility, respect and understanding and build healthier local and global communities.
Current Projects
Mental Health Safe Space focuses on mental illness stigma elimination through trainings and the work of a volunteer task force.
End of Bullying addresses bullying behavior in the schools and workplace, with the guidance of a volunteer task force.
